上海 Day 1

HELLO ALL!!
Bet you miss me! Well, I decided to do something constructive and post something here.
As the title suggest, yes, yours truly just got back from Shanghai on Sat night.
It was with the school and it was really awesome and fun and I gained alot more than I thought (in terms of learning).
The company was really the best I have to say, friends make all the difference:)

So to start of, here is basically some info on the trip.
In SR every year, students are introduced to the SRGCE programme during orientation where we get sent overseas by the school with a choice of 10 over destinations, at the end of the year. Different trips had different objectives, some CIP based while others were on a learning trip or cultural trip. Shanghai was my choice for various reasons, but shall leave that to your imagination;)

So we had to go through our selection and interviews and the first meeting commenced in April.
There was alot of preparation for the trip, others may be practicing their skit or training for their SRGCE, but mine was all on research and presentation. We prepared for several months and finally we were off to Shanghai!!

Day 1
Our's was a morning flight so I was up at 3:30 and at the airport by 5. Benefits of living in Pasir Ris!! And thank goodness ours was SQ as I heard other trips had terrible airlines. It was a 5 hour flight from Spore to Shanghai. We arrived around noon, was introduced to our tour guide, Jacky, and had our first meal which was kfc. I was laughing deep down inside, cause I thought it was really funny! Then we sat the maglev train to somewhere.... it was basically to experience a bullet train that goes up to 400km/hr.

This as usual was followed by photo-taking session to keep ourselves occupied,

We then alighted and boarded our coach and proceeded with our next destination, Xintiandi.
We were there to visit the site of the 1st Chinese Communist Party Conference (CCP).
It was located in the old French concession in Shanghai where French laws used to apply. It also explained the French influences over the architecture of the buildings there which are mainly occupied by pubs, cafe and restaurants.

Xintiandi is surrounded by skyscrapers as the architect decided to preserve its heritage by not touching it but changing it to a Shanghai version of Chijmes during the remodeling of the are. Lots of angmohs and socializing in pubs. heehheehe

We later checked in at our hotel in Shanghai and prepped up for our reflection and discussion for the night.


The night was concluded with me and nico trying to unpack in our room, getting my laptop up and heading to bed for the next day.

Shall continue with the rest another day. Dead beat now...

Last 2 weeks...

Last 2 weeks of what has been happening. Commendation day and mostly PW lessons.

I know I look damn spaz is some of the pictures.

They totally hijacked my mac while I was presenting.
Have just been hardcore doing our OP, practicing, memorizing and all that kinda stuff.
BUT IT HAS BEEN SO FUN WITH MY CLASS AND I WILL MISS THEM SO MUCH!!!!
Today was sort of the last lesson day we would have together since the OP exams start next week.
It's kinda sad for me, cause I really will miss everyone, did I mention that again and again??

Just so you know, Im still alive.

Ok, so I know I've been neglecting this space.
But honestly, school has been sucking my life away, promos has been a pain in the neck, literally.
And I only made time for God, as well as church and cell, if not I'm serenading my books.
This was my life for the last few months.
But I'm glad that I'm down to my last paper on tuesday.
I'm seriously trusting on God this time. It has been so tough, so please be worth it.

Anyways, thought I'll do something fun in this space here
I'm gonna try to think of like 10 interesting/(weird) facts about me, so here goes:)

1. I do have my secret bimbo moments.
I'm not all fierce, strict and cool all the time. I have my girly moments as well, like me dropping my precious wallet from my mum. Haha, as well as thinking that disney princesses, barbie dolls and hello kitty are awesome! I have a secret stash okay! haha.

2. I'm pretty OCD about everything but my room.
I clean my room once in a while (once a year?) since I'm so busy studying half of the time, that sometimes when I get home I just pile everything onto the table. Everything becomes an organized mess. Oxymoron I know, but I know exactly where things are!! Amazing right! But other than that, I'm pretty much a "must be like that" kind of person.

3. My most productive hours is at night, usually 11pm onwards.
JC has probably made me like this since on average I get about 5 hours or less, of sleep. My body clock has been pretty screwed. I can not sleep a wink the whole night, and go for lessons the next morning. It comes with me having to sleep the next night of course, if not I'll die. Very unhealthy I know, kids please don't follow.

4. I used to play the violin.
Many people are surprised at this. I learned it for quite a while before I started primary school, but stopped since my mum didn't want me to feel stress by it, but wanted it to be enjoyable. I obviously lost all my skills at it after not playing for so many years.

5. My feet shrank this year.
I seriously think so. I used to be a UK39 but miraculously am able to wear UK38 now for some of my shoes.

6. I'm a little claustrophobic.
I can't stand studying in my school study, where we have to study in cubicles. Seriously, I need my space. That's why I love the library.

7. I get extremely annoyed when my guy friends keep talking about the girls they like.
Seriously, telling me once or twice, I still can take it. If you constantly talk about it. Expect me to ignore you, cause I'm not interested in your crazy interest. It's really annoying.

8. I eat exotic food.
Deborah thinks I'm weird cause of this. That girl does not even eat sashimi, what is wrong with her?! Horse meet and ostrich meat and crocodile meat are a few. Im not sure if I would have the guts to try the fried insects from thailand though.

9. I self taught myself cantonese okay!!
I'm extremely proud of this. But Im still learning since it has been something I slowly picked up when I was a kid. From my parents to my grandmother who nags at everyone using 3 languages plus all the HK dramas they always watch. Now even better, cause if you know me, I speak cantonese to my maid since it's the only thing she knows how to converse as her english is really weak. But there have been moments where it was so difficult due to my limited vocabulary. Maybe I shall go buy a phase book:)

10. My best friends have been the same people the last 8 years.
I still regard the same people that I was close with when I was young to be my best friends.
Shan and Edna. I love you both. I know we don't see each other a whole lot but you guys mean the most. Your random messages on the most random things about your lives make me smile. I once remember Shan you msg me about stressful you were before your paper you were gonna take the next day when you were still in CCHS and how we fought about peas when we were kids:) I love our random baking times and shopping trips. And even though we don't click well with girls, Im glad we have each other.
And Edna, just want you to know that no matter how many times guys have failed you, I won't fail you:) I know things at home now must be really tough at times, and you're putting up a front. But I guess what I want to say that it's okay to show it to me, cause yeah our friendship is so beyond the superficial things.
I love you girls both for who you guys are, cause that was how you guys love me too.

This took me a really long time to think but here, now you know 10 more things about me.
Just so you know, Im still alive.
